Last Monday, we conducted a poll on Twitter asking the readers who will be the best and worst signing at the end of the season. So far we all agree that Robin Le Normand is the one who is performing the best.
The four choices we made were Alexander Sørloth, Conor Gallagher, Robin Le Normand and Julián Álvarez, the four most famous signings of this market. The results surprised the entire Esto Es Atleti team, not because of who came out first but because of who came last. Julian Alvarez, first... but just barely
It's no surprise that the Argentine was the first choice, but it was only a small margin ahead of the second choice. With 35.8% of the total votes , the former Manchester City player is the choice for the best possible signing at the end of the season.
His start has not been all that great, but no one doubts that sooner or later he will be up to par. Coming to a team like Atlético de Madrid, so different from his previous club, takes time to adapt. In that sense, it seems that the Atlético fans are being patient with the lad and trust that Simeone will bring out the best version of him.
Robin Le Normand in second place
Hot on Calchín's heels is the Spanish-French defender Robin Le Normand. His performance in these first four games, combined with his great Euro Cup, has fans delighted with him. The forcefulness he has given to the Atlético defence has been key to the Colchonera defence recovering the solidity of yesteryear.
All this has led to 33.3%, or one third, of Atlético fans voting him as the best player at the end of the year. Although there are football gurus who do not believe it, the reality is that if he continues like this he could be the replacement for Diego Godín.
Conor Gallagher, in tow
With Pablo Barrios injured and Atlético's lack of players in midfield, it seems likely that the 21.5% of voters will grow. The English midfielder is pure 'cholismo' and looks set to end up winning a starting place alongside Koke and Barrios when he recovers.
The 'pitbull' has the fans devoted, but the little time he has had to play so far has played against him when it comes to getting more votes. He is my personal bet and a midfielder who, despite not being the pivot that Simeone asked for, is new blood for the team.
Alexander Sørloth, the one who will perform the least
Surprisingly, the Norwegian striker is the one that people trust the least. The first ball he touched was Atlético de Madrid's first goal of the season. However, his inconsistency in previous years may have been decisive for fans.
The most striking thing about these results is that he is more than ten percentage points ahead of Conor Gallagher. Only 9.4% of readers believe that Sørloth will be Atlético de Madrid's best signing this year.
