Julián Álvarez Snaps and Confesses at Last: 'I'm getting started but...'

The Argentine striker expressed his feelings after the match against Valencia

Young Argentine striker Julián Álvarez finally broke the silence after scoring his first goal for the red-and-white club. After four games and 138 minutes without scoring, Álvarez found his way into Valencia's goal box, sealing the 3-0 for the Colchoneros. In his later statements, the striker made it clear that he never felt the pressure of not having scored before and expressed his satisfaction in contributing to the team's victory.

Julián Álvarez's first goal for Atlético Madrid

Álvarez joined Atlético de Madrid as one of the club's big bets to reinforce the offense. However, his first games in the Spanish League were not easy, as he failed to score during the first matches. The goal came after his return from the double FIFA matchday with the Argentine national team, where he had managed to score against Chile. In the match against Valencia, he left the bench during the second half and, shortly after, scored his first goal with Atlético.

"It's a great feeling, it's what I wanted. It happened today and I'm happy to have helped the team," said Alvarez to ESPN. "I didn't feel desperate, I try to help the team in every way," he added.

Simeone's support and Álvarez's assimilation to Atlético de Madrid

Álvarez also wanted to thank the constant support of his coach, Diego Simeone, who has backed him since his arrival at the club. "He has supported me a lot, I never felt pressured to score a goal. I think that the goal comes as a consequence of the game and you always have to be prepared," said the striker.

The forward stressed the importance of continuing adding victories and the good shape of the group: "I am very happy with the victory, both because we needed to continue scoring three as the home team and because of the goal, which helps the confidence and the team."

He also expressed optimism about Atlético de Madrid's future in the upcoming competitions: "We are doing well as a group. We are just getting off to a good start. Now we have Champions League matches coming up, many matches in a row. We have to work to continue on this path."
